History

Matthew Bryan Davis was a Richmond native born in 1969. Throughout his life he attended Henrico County Schools. His love of sports began at an early age and carried him through Tuckahoe Little League, the Henrico County basketball programs and on to a high school career at Freeman, where he graduated in 1987.

He continued his education at Randolph Macon College where he played basketball and baseball and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a member of the graduating class of 1991.

It was also at Randolph Macon that Matt met Mike Reeder who would later join with Matt as the musical duo known as The Devers. Matt and Mike wrote many songs and performed at private parties as well as local establishments.

On July 3, 1995, Matt was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor (glioblastoma). Then, on December 29th of that same year, he lost his hard fought battle with this disease. His family established “The Matt Davis Foundation” upon his death.
