Mission & Purpose

The Matt Davis Foundation is a Richmond based nonprofit organization created to sustain the Matt Davis Award, which presents an annual award to Douglas Southall Freeman High School seniors who exhibit outstanding skills as students and athletes. The recipient must also display qualities of leadership, citizenship, character and integrity.

Additionally, the foundation also endeavors to support facilities or groups that provide invaluable comfort and aid to cancer patients and their families, as well as organizations committed to cancer research.

It is the hope of all involved that through our foundation, Matt’s memory and his love of life will carry forward and that as a result of his death in 1995, others may be helped.
